Excellent turnout for today's riding of the Rancho Santa Fe Ramble: Beth & Bob, Mike, Liz, Mary Ann, John, and me. Obviously, the threat of rain wasn't enough to dampen our need for a ride, although most all of us were over-dressed and shedding layers during the early miles. Heck, I removed my arm warmers before taking a single pedal stroke.
On a side note: my ride started badly when I was going out the door only to discover I had a flat! Dang, those slow leaks! The bike sure seemed fine when I put it away yesterday. Many thanks to the group for starting on time and making a slight detour to my house to pick me up. The route was sufficiently hilly I think, my computer registered about 1,950', which seems decent for a 35 mile-ish ride. The Zumaque Road climb is the tester on this route: a solid 13% hill. The loop around Rancho Santa Fe offered some nice scenery as it took us past Lago Linda, along Fortuna Road, and provided another nice hill on San Elijo Road. Coffee stop was at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in 4S Ranch, which lacked lemonade but had delicious San Pelligrino Aranciata to make up for it! Next week we'll have Group Choice again... ACHD Ride Date: Tuesday November 1, 2011 Time: 8:30am Cheers, Steve
