"Three's the charm" they say, and in a sense our third month-in-a-row attempt to reach the fabled Juice-A-Rama was a success: Yes, it didn't rain on the ACHD ride! It was unusually foggy at times, but not a droplet of misty wet stuff fell on us. In a bit of a weather reversal, we started with sun and then went into the foggy stuff. That made for interesting vistas as we rode westward to Fairbanks Ranch, but we knew it would eventually burn off. The tentative route was to get to Torrey Pines, and we approached the coast, but started to become short of time, so... we weren't able to loop all the way to Torrey Pines before turning south towards the heart of Traffic-Land (aka Sorrento Valley/Mira Mesa). But we did get to ride up Lusk Blvd., where we viewed the massive WaterRidge cascading fountain, and marveled at the enormity of the Qualcomm campus.
Alas, our eventual arrival at Juice-A-Rama proved too late: in the three months since the idea first came up the store has gone Belly Up, but not as a southern venue of that famous tavern, no... it was closed down, dead, and gone! Yeah, that's why we call it "Anything Can Happen Day." On that note, we did get to see some ginormous wind turbine blades being transported north on the I-15. Dang, wish I had gotten a pic of those! Our ridership consisted of Liz, Jerry, Les, John, Paul, and me. I hope you all had some measure of fun on the ride. It wasn't all beautiful scenery, but I for one still enjoyed the outing! I haven't posted the rest of the November rides yet, but will do so very soon! Cheers, Steve
