A late report today, hmmm... funny how non-cycling reality sometimes intrudes upon True Bike Life, but better late than never, so here goes... It was a good start to the day's outing with a large contingent of seven riders: Matt, Jerry, Robert, Mike, Bob & Beth, and me. Whew, that's already taxing my memory! We went out of RB and headed for Black Mountain to be sure of gettting some extra hills (kidding), and then whipped down to San Dieguito Road. Unfortunately, that was where Mike flatted and learned what the "Blood Test" is... Ouch, a nasty piece of glass, that he found when checking the tire, resulted in a deep cut and a lot of blood getting smeared around. He wisely opted for a trip back to start with Robert accompanying him while I rode on to meet up with the rest of the group, which was waiting further on down the road. ![]() I rolled up to find that Matt was on a mission and long gone, and so we went from a group of seven to just four in rather short order. The remainder of the crew tackled the ride up to Rancho Santa Fe and did the SDBC "Stud Loop" before climbing the Del Dios Highway. After that, Bob and Beth dropped off to head home, while Jerry and I continued on and made a welcome stop at Nayeli's Taco Shop. Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm! Next week's ride... Winter Break No Ride ! What??? No ride....? Well, maybe - maybe not... I'll be in Rhode island for the next two weeks, so... no "scheduled" rides for Jan 10 or Jan 17! BUT: I encourage the group to use the VVV email forum to arrange some ad-hoc rides, Tuesday or otherwise. Regular rides will resume on Jan 24, until then... Have Fun! Steve

I'm sure when the menu at the taco shop said skewered tacos, they didn't mean to use your own skewers!

As Steve noted, it was my anti-theft device. I was in no shape to chase a would-be-bike-thief. I already had a hard time catching up as I was dropped on the hills. :(. Good ride and good company none the less. (no pun intended) Leave a Reply. |
