Awesome group turnout for our final ride of 2014 - the challenging Fallbrook Metric Century! I'm going to give Kudos to everyone for braving the threat and the actuality of rain today. And not just rain, but cold rain, with wind! Be happy and know that, by the rules of the Velominati, "You Are Badass." Don't take my word for it, check out Rule #9. (And we obviously also put something towards Rule #5!)
We made two refueling stops today: one outbound at Pala Mesa Market, and one inbound in Escondido; we were just burning up extra calories with the chill in the air.

Group choice for route... Usually easy??
Nice turnout for today's E Z 30 route - at least that's the word I got from Jerry, who ably took up the Ride Leader duties today. And thanks to Jerry and Judy supplying the slideshow photos.

Plenty of scenery along Old 395, Live Oak Park Rd, Green Canyon Road, Camino Del Rey, and Jesmond Dene Road.
Great weather today - quite a contrast to the storm that rolled through last week on the originally scheduled ride up the Palomar: Mountain Madness route. Just a little bit of chill in the air at the summit, but it was sure toasty when we rolled back down to Harrah's. Kudos to all the folks who made their first ascent of Palomar via the South Grade Road, and thanks to Susan for supplying additional slideshow pix!
It seemed that everyone was satisfied with the provisions from the General Store at the top of the hill. Although, climbing thirteen miles makes anything seem better... not to mention the appetite-enhancing, crisp, clear, pine-scented air.
Two flats on the way up and two more on the way down... Goat Heads! Grrr!!!
This week's ridership: 18 Cyclists (5W / 13M)
With a Welcome to Johan who made his first VVV ride today.
Next week, an easy-peasy recovery from Palomar...
